Hydro.mp3
(031222)
RedMonday.mp3
(031222)
RedDevil.mp3
(031222)
These three sequencer demos were created by Dasz Garncarz. Each
demo is a single G2 Performance consisting of four G2 Patches with
inter-Slot MIDI Control of Patch parameter variations. Everything
you hear is sequenced and controlled internally in each Performance.
All sounds are synthesized on the G2 and no samples, external effects
or external control are used.
G2strings.mp3 (031219)
Sasquatch.mp3
(031219)
These sound clips were created by sound designer Zon Vern Pyles.
The G2strings clip is a simulation of strings and the Sasquatch
is a "film FX" type of sound. The sounds are synthesized
on the G2 and no samples or external effects are used.
RushingHours.mp3 (031219)
This clip was created by artist Rob Hordijk. He used three G2 Patches
simultaneously in a G2 Performance setup with inter-Slot MIDI control
from internal sequencer modules. The sounds are synthesized on the
G2 and no samples or external effects are used.
G2_Dramatic_SEQ.mp3
This clip was created by Sean Charles and is a recording of a single
G2 Performance. Modulations and parameter tweaks was recorded in
Logic. The sounds are synthesized on the G2 and no samples or external
effects are used.
G2SeqsPlusNoise.mp3
This demo was recorded live using two single patches: a sequencer
patch made by Dasz Garncarz and an ambient "feedback"
pad made by Curt Nolte. The sequencer patch runs in one slot and
the feedback pad in another. The sounds are synthesized on the G2
and no samples or external effects are used.
These four improvised recordings were created
by artist Rob Hordijk.
PressureBass.mp3 and
OddEvenHarmonicDistortion.mp3 are analog style "electro"
sequences with automated and real-time modulation.
WateryTexture.mp3 is a simulation of the sound of running water
together with some sound effects.
ShamansWailingLonghornsInCave.mp3 is a movie soundscape with
distant "detuned" horns and sound effects. All sounds
are synthesized on the G2 and no samples or external effects
are used.
G2_teaser.mp3
This demo was created by keyboard player, composer and sound designer
Åke Danielson. The demo is divided into two parts: the first
part is a "euro disco" style arrangement and the second
part is a "blues/rock" style arrangement. The electric
guitar sound in the second part was played live by Åke on
the internal keyboard of the Nord Modular G2. Note that all sounds
are synthesized on the G2 and that no samples are used.
G2Guitar.mp3
This is another demo created by keyboard player, composer and sound
designer Åke Danielson. The patch utilizes physical modeling
to simulate the sound of plucked strings - in this case the sound
of an acoustic guitar. A StringOscillator module is used to generate
pitched notes out of very short noise bursts. A Reverb module is
also used to give the sound a nice ambience. The patch was played
live by Åke on the internal keyboard of the Nord Modular G2.
Note that the sound is synthesized and that no samples are
used.

These demo sequences show the sound of
the Nord Electro 2.
The first four demos were played by B-3 virtuoso
Eddie Landsberg. Here, he plays a Nord Electro 2 SeventyThree and
uses Keyboard Split. He normally doesn't feel very comfortable playing
B-3 clones, he says, but the Nord Electro 2 definitely changed that!
It's right on the spot! No external effects were used on these demos.

roadweed3 (3.12 min, 4,504 kb)
This song is made by Japanese composer Kimitaka Matsumae. Here is what he writes about the song:
"I, Kimitaka Matsumae, based in Tokyo
Japan, composed this song called "roadweed3" in order
to demonstrate the great performance of Nord Lead 3. I made it for
the Japanese Keyboard Magazine June 2001 issue and you can find
it on the attached CD. The sound I created indicates how far the
Nord Lead 3 can go with the help of a few MAS plug-ins. I used only
Nord Lead 3 for the composition and recorded through Digital Performer
2.72 with just two MAS plug-ins, one reverb and one delay. Of course,
neither Equalizer nor any other editing like cut and paste was used."
NL3Dreamer (1.23 min, 1,293 kb)
This demo is made by the famous sound designer and synth programmer Zon Vern Pyles. What you hear is only a single Performance patch from the Nord Lead 3 that is being modulated and morphed to change characteristics.

Moon Babies 1 (2.28 min, 2,309 kb)
Moon Babies 2 (2.30 min 2,340 kb)
These are extracts of two songs from the upcoming album Moon Babies
by the great band Planet X. The extracts are not
the final versions but only "rough" mixes. Keyboard player
Derek
Sherinian uses the Nord Lead 2, Nord Lead 3, Nord Modular and
Nord Electro synthesizers in the songs.
Viagra (26 sec, 301 kb)
This is an extract of a song made by Peter Gorges . He uses a Nord Lead 1 for the "guitar" lead sound. The lead sound is only processed using a standard EQ and some delay, that's it - no external chorusing, no distortion. Main ingredients of the sound are FM (creating the distortion) and Unison mode (creating the fatness).
Changeling_edit (2.01 min, 1,892 kb)
This ambient dance track, made by Andy Allder, is made entirely
using a Nord Micro Modular. Andy recorded 16 tracks on Cubase VST24
and really pushed his G3 to the limit with the FX plugins.
Viva Modular! edit (1.54 min, 1,775 kb)
This track, made by Jon Drukman under the name Bass Kittens, was
recorded with a Kurzweil K2000 (drum samples), Nord Lead (bass,
filter drone), and the Nord Modular (everything else). The buzzy
rhythm (heard at the beginning) was sampled into the K2000 because
all slots on the modular were already used for other sounds. All
Modular knob tweaks are performed live.
The Bite demo (1.49 min, 1,697 kb)
This track is made by Xoxos. The track is entirely Nord Lead 1 recorded
on a Fostex DMT-8VL harddisk multitrack recorder, and shows the
Nord Lead's harsher sound capabilities. Download the file, switch
on the subwoofer and turn up the volume!
Don't think (3.06 min, 2,906 kb)
This song is also made by Xoxos. The track is entirely Nord Lead
1, except for the drums, recorded on a Fostex DMT-8VL harddisk multitrack
recorder. Xoxos also used some external reverb and delay effects.
Malplace (3.57 min, 3,709 kb)
This song is made by the Swedish band Entourage Swe. They used two
Nord Rack 1s for the bass, the snappy percussion sound, the slow
synth bell arpeggio and the second lead string sound. All other
sounds are from various other synths. They also used some external
reverb effects.
In a Box (3.54 min, 3,672 kb)
This song is performed and written by Peter Hageus with lyrics and vocals by Robert Johansson. Bass, most synth sounds and bleeps comes from a Nord Lead 2. Panning and distorted sequence is from a Micro Modular. The vocoded chorus is an E64 and the Nord Lead 2 run through the Micro Modular. Other synths used are Emu E64, Kawai K5000r, Alesis DM5 + fx.
Recovery (5.33 min, 5,210 kb)
This song is made by Jimmy Myhrman of Sweden. The pad in the background
is a Yamaha CS1x synthesizer, the 909-hihats and the crash cymbal
are played by a Roland MC505 groovebox, the India-percussion and
the sound effects are samples, and everything else is played by
the Clavia Nord Micro Modular (including all the drums except the
crash and the 909-hihats). The track was created using Cakewalk
and HD-recording. FX-Plugins were used as well to add delay and
reverb to the Micro Modular sounds.
Wolfkamp (2.04 min, 1,944 kb)
This song is made by Dutch drummer and percussionist Jan Wolfkamp.
He used a ddrum3, a Nord Lead 1 and a Nord Modular in this song.
He used Logic Audio to record everything. In the ddrum3 he made
some multi samples from the wavedrum and some gamalan type sounds
and tuned china cymbals. There are also afro drum sounds and gongs
etc. At the end of the song there are tabla multisamples. The vocal
sounds are samples of siberiantalk and afrotalk. He sampled them
into the ddrum3 and sent the samples to the audio in of the Nord
Modular and processed them further. The string chord sound in the
beginning (00.12) is from the Nord Modular. The song starts with
an organ puls from the Nord Lead layered with another Nord Lead
sound. The contra bass type sound at 1.12 is from the Nord Modular.
The organ at 00.42 is also the Nord Modular. He didn’t use
any external effects on the sounds except for the gamalan sound
where he used a little reverb.

1. 'Select' by Dan Lind
Dan is a hobby musician and is very fond of his
Micro Modular. 'Select' was recorded and overdubbed live on a Scully
8-track recorder and no external sequencer was used. The first melody
line was played on a Korg Mono/Poly and a "swirl" sound
on a Juno 60, but all other sounds are Micro Modular. If you have
a Nord Modular or a Micro Modular you can
download the patches used in this track.
Download: Select edit.mp3 (2.02 min, 1,900 kb)
2. 'Baby I Love U' by Tommi Lindell
The sounds in the song were done with the Nord
Modular, with the exception of a few vocal samples. In the verse
Nord Modular was played through a talk-box. In the chorus the singing
parts were done with a vocoder patch and a formant filter patch,
which actually says ”Baby I Love You” (if you have a
Nord Modular or a Micro Modular you can
download the patch and check it out). The drums, bass, guitar,
strings and fx are all programmed and played from the Modular. An
old Alesis ADAT was used for recording and some of the Nord Modular´s
sound effects were sampled to an E-mu E4XT Ultra. The sequencing
was done on a Mac running Opcode´s Studio Vision Pro program.
The song was mixed with the Yamaha 01v mixer. The only processing
(besides the talk-box) was some slight equalizing and a little reverb
for some drum parts.
Download: Baby I Love U edit.mp3 (1.59 min, 1,858 kb)
3. 'Fola Fola Blakken' by Morten Reppesgård and Gro Solli
In 'Fola Fola Blakken' Morten used a Nord Rack
for all sounds except for the "voice" pad that comes from
a Roland synth. The samples were played on an AKAI S3000XL. The
track was recorded on a Mac using Logic Audio and Audiowerk.

4. 'Underwater' by N@turactive
We use a Nord Lead Classic with 12 voice expander
and PCMCIA card, and a Nord Micro Modular with v3.0 system, and
an E-6400 Ultra. The Umma-Umma-Ukhhhma-Ukhhhhma sound (propeller
style sound) is NL Classic. The Hammond organ is Nord Lead Classic
too. For the guitar sound we used Nord Micro Modular. For vocal
compression we also used Micro Modular.
Download: Underwater 2 minutes.mp3 (2.18 min, 2,165 kb)
6. 'Sonic Land' by Web-Bros
Everything was done on: Nord Lead 2: Percs, Sub
BD, Lead melody. Micro Modular: Bass, lead drums, all noises, filter
on drums and keyboards, arpeggio. Everything was recorded, auto-mixed
and more with Cubase VST 24.

7. 'Entry' by Kim Jonsson
Gear used: Clavia Nord Modular (unexpanded),
Akai S2000 sampler with internal FX card, Roland SC-88 sound module,
Lexicon MPX100 sound processor. Software used: Cakewalk Pro Audio
9.01. A few individual Modular sounds have been sampled to, and
subsequently sequenced with, the Akai, mainly due to effect reasons.
The SC88 sounds are: Harp, Synth chord hit in second silent part,
Two Crash cymbals. The rest is Nord Modular and Akai S2000.

10. 'Alien' by Darrell C. Hazelrig
The instruments used on the song include my Nord
Lead, Korg Wavestation, Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, and AKAI
S3000XL. Without a doubt the Nord played the most vital role in
the song. I programmed the bass sound on the Nord. The bass is what
drives the song, and what great bass sounds you can make with that
thing. The next sound I used from the Nord is the arpeggios. I would
call that the lead instrument when it kicks in at the end, but it's
also throughout the song as a texture. It adds motion and dynamic

10. 'Let It Go' by Christin Bastiansen and Kjetil Rostad
Equipment used: Clavia Micro Modular, Korg KaossPad,
Christin’s vocal , Boss DR-202 Dr.Groove, Roland VG-8, Shure
SM8, Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0, Yamaha DSP Factory. All the drumsounds
on the tune is done with the Boss DR-202. I used some Micro filter
modules to process some of the ”industrial” sounds that
came from the DR-202. The vocals are all clean, except for the deep,
chanting vocal during the chorus. This is processed with the Micro
using the audio ins, feeding some filter modules, and a distortion
module. The bass, which comes in on the second verse, is the Micro
with a simple sinus tone and a rather short decay time. The warm
pad sound that goes through the entire tune, is a patch I made using
LFO’s as oscillators, thereby getting the polyphony count
up to 6 voices. The swell sound on the intro is done with a VG-8.
