Do you find that your fascination with
technology is constantly growing?
Carl
Cox "It has to come to a halt somewhere so you
can utilize what you’ve learned to appreciate it. Technology
can go so fast and so far ahead that we don’t even get
a chance to catch up with what we’ve actually got. I’m
still seriously wowed by the (Clavia) Nord Lead synthesizer
- I’m still on version 1 although 2’s come out. You’ve
got the (Sequential Circuits) Prophet and everybody’s
trying to come up with synth’s that sound like the Nord
but I still think they’re distant cousins.
People
still look to the Roland TR909 Drum Machine and TB303
Bassline because they still rock, the components haven’t
been bettered, so having new-fangled plug-ins is just
an extra fifteen grand. Warm to technological progression
by all means, but don’t go so far ahead that you lose
the whole reason for making music in the first place."
